Final wrapup |
I apoligize in advance for not wrapping this up sooner. Over the last few weeks I've visited two different states, had quite a bit of extra web work to do, and have been swamped. Here's the meet article!........[Meet Article]

State records updated! |
Finally, I have the state records updated. Those who had record setting performances include Terri Smith, Buella Bishop, Lindsay Pledger, Greg Chrun, Greg Ludwig, Lance Bargatze, Jon Adams, Greg Fankhouser, Denver Brown, Josh Bauer & Eric Cozine. I'd have to say the most impressive in my eyes are what Greg Chrun has accomplished. Greg set 4 records with his 501 lb. benchpress. And even though he is in the 50-54 category, 2 of these records stand as Open Mens class records (The Full meet Open BP record and the Open record for BP meets only!). Along with that, he also set both records in the 50-54 class. Very impressive performace by all who set records!

Rubey repeats as Missouri's best lifter! |
Travis Rubey of Rolla, Mo capped off an impressive day by nearly locking out 771 lbs. on the deadlift. He continues to make great progress and will be a force at the Nationals this year in Chicago. With a 733 squat, a 473 lb. benchpress and a deadlift of 705 lbs., his total was an impressive 1,912 lbs! Though he did not break his state total record, he was close. Had he completed just one more bench and one more deadlift, his total would've been an awesome 1,995 lbs!

Chrun benches 501! |
Shake hands with IPF World Champion Greg Chrun! Greg nailed an impressive 501 lbs. on the benchpress this past weekend. After chasing this number for quite sometime, the magical quarter ton finally went up! An exceptional bench from an exceptional lifter!

Petzoldt captures 5th State title |
Congratulations to Roger Petzoldt who won the 198 lb. State Championship! The title makes the 5th time Roger stands on top of the state competition. He won his first title in 1989, then proceeded to do a three-peat also winning in 1990 & 1991. After a dry spell for the rest of the 90's, he won again last year and has repeated again this year. This moves him up on the list of state title winners to being tied with Kevin Clemens and Chad Holmes, this year's 242 lb. champion; who have also won five titles. What a show of endurance, Roger's first title was 13 years ago! Way to go Roger!

Special Thanks.. |
We'd like to thank a group of people that make the meets possible. For starters, our staff allows us to hold contests and fill in where ever needed. It would be impossibly to name each and every person, but it includes those who set up, the numbers crew, spotter & loaders, cleanup crew and the referees who travel to the meets for the love of the game. We can't say Thank You enough for making the meet a success! |

We found an announcer...sort of |
After hearing that George Huber would be unable to attend, we were forced to either have Dr. Mike step in and announce, or look elsewhere for a willing body. We were saved by Ryan Juden, a 17 year old high school student from right here in St. Louis. Though he'd be the first to tell you he's not an announcer, and at times things got hectic near the end, he did do a great job with having only 2 minutes to prepare for this. Ryan allowed Mike to oversee the meet and insure things went well. Hats off to Ryan Juden for a job well done! |
