(Editor's note: The above flights are correct.
We will be running longer flights, but they will be ran very fast.)

  • The meet has grown to be the largest I can remember for the Collegiates and is around 220 lifters. This will mean a little longer day for Saturday, but a quicker day for Sunday. Lucky for the lifters, the meet will be ran in sessions, so your lifting will be done in less that 4 hours. We do plan on running the platforms fast. Don't get caught with your pants (or your suit) down. BE READY.

  • The meet will start at 9 am Saturday, and 9 am Sunday.

  • The Sunday session was made shorter by design. We want everyone to be able to make their flights and get a jump on traveling if traveling long distances.

  • The lifting sessions will go much better if everyone registers the day before. Have everything you need including USAPL cards (or be prepared to buy one or show a USAPL card receipt), openers in mind (we'll be doing them in kilos and will provide pencils and conversion charts), all gear, and lifting equipment. This will take place out side the main ballroom.

  • For anyone flying in, there is a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel. Look for the phones and call the Hilton Hotel at
ext. 87 from there, they'll pick you up at door 18. For Southwest Ariline travelers the shuttle picks up at door 15.

  • There will be a handful of vendors on hand selling lifting products. They are Crain's Muscle World, Titan Support Systems, Inzer Advanced Designs, House of Pain courtesy of Harold Gaines, Steel in Your Life, and John Morgan's Custom Embroidery. Lifters will be able to get their meet shirts embroidered with their names, lifts, placings or anything you might want, right on the spot by John.

  • We'll be playing music all weekend. And though I'd like to say we'll crank it up to the fullest, this is a 2 platform meet and we'll need to hear the announcer. Count on some kicking music though. If you have music, bring it. If you want to play some cd's and be the DJ for a while, come on. We may be able to use an extra hand.

  • We'd like to keep the warmup area as free as possible. With that in mind, if you aren't lifting and your team already has enough help, please be thoughtful of the lifters who are liftting and give them the space they need by sitting in the main ballroom. If forced to, we will clear the warmup area and run people out, but we'd rather not have to.

  • The hotel has a buffet in the restaurant. I'm not sure of the price, but it does include my four favorite words....."ALL YOU CAN EAT". Nothing more needed to be said.

  • The hotel has an indoor pool and whirlpool, located past the front desk and to the right.

  • There are plenty of places to eat near the hotel. Here are the names and numbers to the important ones...the pizza places! (area codes not needed when calling from hotel.)
    • Fredo's Pizzeria, 10066 Natural Bridge Rd, 314-427-8855, 0.4 miles from hotel
    • Erio's Pizza, 4434 Woodson Rd , 314-423-1555, 0.5 miles from hotel
    • Domino's Pizza, 9432 Natural Bridge Rd, 314-426-3113, .5 miles from hotel
    • Pizza Hut, 9740 Saint Charles Rock Rd, 314-423-2225, 1.3 miles from hotel
    • Imo's Pizza, 9773 Saint Charles Rock Rd, 314-423-4050, 1.33 miles from hotel
    • Little Caesars Pizza, 10200 Saint Charles Rock Rd, 314-426-6600, 1.7 miles from hotel

  • It looks like the weather this weekend will be in the 60's, and mostly sunny. At the minimum bring a jacket and sweatshirt, St. Louis weather can change very fast.

  • If you take the Metrolink downtown, it's very convenient and very cheap. The hotel has a free shuttle that takes you to the airport where you get on the Metrolink. It will take you all the way downtown to several places to eat along the way. There is quite a bit to do at St. Louis Union Station with shops, restaurants such as Hard Rock Café and more. Even a theater for those wanting to catch a movie. Be sure make it back in time, the Metrolink stops running around midnight.

  • Be sure to introduce yourself this weekend. It's always cool to meet new people. Exchange e-mail addresses and make some new friends.

  • Do we have any aspiring writers in the meet? Send me (Rick) an e-mail if you'd like to cover a session of the meet. I'd be thrilled to print articles covering the meet written by Collegiate lifters...Be sure to let me know which session you want to cover.

  • This is our 25th National meet we have promoted. We are proud to host the 2003 Collegaite Nationals and welcome you all to St. Louis, Mo!
See you this weekend,
Rick Fowler
