What a competition!
I can't believe the show put on by several lifters at the Central USA....I'm speechless.
In fact, I'm so speechless that I'm going to dissapear for a few days. All joking aside, I'm going to lay low for a couple days.
The results are posted as of 1:00am and I am approaching a 20 hour day. Feel free to look them over
the next day or so and double check me for errors before I turn them in to the National Office.
Anyone wishing to write articles, let me know....Thanks for a great meet!

Monster Muscle will be handed out!
Wes Kampen of Monster Muscle has agreed to send us a boatload of his publication, Monster Muscle Magazine.
His magazine has some great articles and photos of the lifting game's top name lifters and competitions. Along with that,
Wes will be sending posters and training logs as well. So there will be something extra for everyone involved thanks to Monster Muscle Magazine! Be sure to take a look at
The Powerlifting Superstore, which can be found at: [www.monstermuscle.com]
Youth powerlifting introduced!
Starting this year, USA Powerlifting will lower it's age restrictions from a minimum age of 14 years of age,
to 10 years old. The USAPL has thought long and hard on this, and with current research, studies have shown that
lifting can be beneficial to young athletes when done correctly. There are a few big components to kids lifting
that should not be overlooked at any expense.
First and foremost, abdominal strength should not be overlooked. As is the case in adults, a strong trunk
will do wonders in injury prevention. Second, sound technique will be highly important in the safety of the kids. Using good form
and technique should be a goal of every lifter anyway, but teaching it to the youth lifter is even more important. The focus of the Youth competition
will be to lift with good form, while making as many attempts as possible instead of lifting the absolute most they can lift.
Divisions will be as follows: 10-11 years old & 12-13 years old. In the youth 10-11 division, the lifters total will be determined by adding
their two best squats, with their two best benchpresses and their two best deadlifts. This is to encourage making as many attemtps as possible. In the event
they make only one, we will use that one lift to count towards their total. A lack of successful attempt in any of the three lifts will cause them to scratch
in the total column, but they will be allowed to continue lifting in order to gain more experience.
The 12-13 division results will be figured the same as a standard powerlifting meet with their best single lift in the three events added fo the total.
If the lifter fails to make an attempt in an event, they will scratch, but will also be allowed to continue with a total.
The "Get Your Entry in Early" Contest
Ok, so we spend months planning these meets, spend who knows how much of our family's money to get things paid for and
lined up, and we still have the majority of our entries in late. I'm going to go out on a limb here and offer a free meet T-shirt to the first three
entries I recieve. Will it cause a flood of entries to come in 2 months in advance? Probably not, but at least people might think "Oh Wow, maybe I'll
mail it in now and see if I'm one of the first three.....". We will announce at the end of the competition who the winners are. Get the PDF Entry:[Central USA Entry Form]

Saturday Night's Allright for Pizza at Pizza Inn
Lifting fans, we've got a nice sponsor on board for the Central USA this year. Pizza Inn, which is located right by the meet site, will be a
sponsor of the meet this year. I can't say enough about Pizza Inn since I go there each year after the competition. They offer a pizza buffet and other
items at the food bar, just waiting to be eaten by hungry lifters. Make it a point to stop in and get a meal before hopping in I-55 after the contest. Most everyone
I've talked to will be there after the show.

Universal Fitness: The coolest facility!
How does lifting on a double wide indoor tennis court sound? How about a facility with every machine known to man
and so much space, you could play raquetball, basketball, kick the punching bag and jog all in one day? Look no farther than St. Francis Unversal Fitness because they ahve all of this and more!
Along with that, they also have superb shower room facilities with a sauna for those who need to make weight and a whirlpool for after the meet! Located right off of I-55 and walking distance from the Victorian Inn Hotel, this is the place to go for a meet!
