Caleb Williams is one of the fastest rising stars of USA Powerlifting. Handling prodigious weights at the low, low bodyweight of 148 lbs., he is one of the USA's best lifters. Caleb turned heads last November when he was runner up to the great Jaroslaw Olech of Poland. Caleb narrowly missed the gold medal by a slim margin of 12.5 kg's. Look for Caleb to build on that Silver medal performance in 2007!

A: Football, Track
Q: What made you decide to compete in powerlifting?
A: Training for football at the age of 11 one of my coaches was a powerlifter and asked if I would be interested in doing a competition. I gave it a shot and at the age of 11 weighing 114 lbs i squatted 335, bench 201, dl 355.
Q: At what point did you have the lightbulb moment and realize "Hey, I actually have a shot at being the National Champion"?
A: I have always been strong and it just kind of clicked when i trained for powerlifitng. I won nationals my second year competing.
Q: Tell us about your profession: what do you do for a living?
A: I am a professional trainer and deal mainly with athletes of all levels, middle school to pros, and powerlifters.
Q: Give us some idea of the types of struggles or hardships you've had to endure in your training…or life.
A: Same as everyone probably, injuries, overtraining, etc
Q: What are the most extreme conditions you've had to go through in training?
A: I have trained in a garage during a snowstorm and also in a gym during a tornado. Everyone else was hiding or left...I had to finish that squat workout for the meet. I was probably safer with 600+ pounds on my back anyways.
Q: Tell the readers what your daily meals consist of as the contest gets closer.
A: I eat fairly clean...chicken, beef, tuna, and high carbs...sweet potatoes, brown rice and wheat bread for the most part.
Q: Now tell us all of the foods you'll eat in the weeks after the Mens Nationals
A: It doesnt change a whole lot...but I'll eat more cookies
Q: The all-time best meal you've ever had: where was it and what was it?
A: I think I had a steak in Texas...that was probably the best meal I've ever had.
Q: You are stranded on an island: What CD, book, food and drink would you have with you
A: Well with nothing to do I would probably have a cd to put me to sleep, a book on learning how to swim, some steaks and Crown and Coke
Q: When not lifting, what are your hobbies?
A: I work alot and enjoy reading, watching movies, investing, and relaxing.
Q: What kind of collection(s) do you own? And what?
A: I have some movies and books that I collect and enjoy. Besides that...I have a large old gear collection.
Q: People would never guess this about you:
A: I can't really swim.
Q: You are not too ashamed to admit in high school you used to:
A: Not admitting to anything.
Q: What type of intensity can we expect to see from you once the bell rings and the fight to keep your title has begun?
A: In training I am intense but like to have fun and keep a relaxed environment. On meet day I become a different person. It is all business...I am there for one reason and one reason only: To dominate and hit the highest total possible on that day.

Q: Single most life changing experience:
A: I think that moving to Georgia was a great experience not only for my training but also for my career. It is also alot warmer than PA!!
