"....Rick, I recently competed in my first PL meet ever, the meet down in Cape. After that experience, all I can say is WOW!! The rush was incredible and I definitely found a reason to come out of retirement from sports after quitting college football over 4 years ago. I will definitely be competing in the MO State meet in STL next May. Great job by both you and George on your write-ups of the meet. The time and especially the intense effort are greatly appreciated by me and -- I am very sure -- all the other lifters who frequent the MO USAPL site. You and George both did a great job of capturing the drama of the competition. I was especially flattered by what George wrote about me, a novice SHW, on the bottom of page 11. One small problem. My name is Brad Manion, not Bill Manion. Coincidentally, my younger brother's name is Bill and although he is me frequent spotter for bench press, he will probably never be a lifter. It did bring a smile to both our faces when we read that paragraph. I hate to seem ungrateful, especially considering the very hard work George must have put in to write that article and paste in all those pictures, but is there any way that that small error could be corrected. I guess I'll just have to do something a little better so that my [real] name is remembered ;-)It would mean a lot to me. If it is not possible, that is okay. I am writing to you because there is not a link to George provided, and I figured thatyou would probably know how to contact him. I deeply appreciate this. Anyways, sorry about the length of this letter. I am sure you are a very busy person. Keep up the great work on the web-site, your own lifting, and your coaching (after watching Justin Newsome, who I had only read about on the web, all I can say is WHOA!! )...."
Brad Manion
Thanks Brad! We Sure try to lay out a decent product so that the lifters get more than just a meet to go to. We're glad to provide the site, articles and pictures! congratulations on lifting in your first meet. I'm glad you had a great time.
Rick
"..Rick: Fantastic site! I use it all the time as a reference for what an interactive home page should look like...I probably need to be more grateful to Mike and family for doing such a great job and how lucky we are to have them as promoters.....Actually, I've had a hard on for the administration of the AFDPA since they cancelled, in my opinion, the only worthwhile member service we ever had which was the magazine. You do more to promote the sport through your site than our fine national office ever has. Sorry for the ranting, keep up the great work."
Dana Rosenzweig
Thanks Dana! We all have to vent sometimes. I agree, the magazine was a great feature, and it's nice to get something for your hard earned money. But, it still comes down to having a good product for the lifters. We could have an excellent magazine for a bunch of meets that are put on in so and so's gym/backyard National Championship with 10 lifters and the magazine wouldn't mean too much. REalizing that the magazine was important, our goal is to give the lifters of our area, (and anyone else who cares to read my mindless babbling), something extra. So, keep those comments coming, and keep on training!
Rick
"..You have done it again. The page is great, just thought I'd let you know that, you guys do one hell of a job for all the lifters..."
Jim Bell
Thanks Jim! But if it weren't for all the lifters, we wouldn't have much of a webpage. So thank you to all the lifters that work hard in this sport!
Rick
"..Your page is super, I wouldnt change a thing, except maybe get more workout info by some great lifters..." ..."
Sincerely,
Ray Klocek
Thanks Ray, and we'll certainly work towards this...if anyone has any ideas, send them my way!
Rick
"..Hey Rick, Most excellent--Even better than I expected. When it comes to graphics-You Da Man. Please feel free to pass my name on to anyone as a satisfied customer...." ..."
Thanks,
Ira Rosen
Thanks for the complements Ira, but it's really the subjects that make the photos standout! I just add to them a bit.
Rick
"Man that is an AWESOME PICTURE!!!!!! Thanks!"
Dave Ricks
No problem Dave. You just keep winning the world titles and I'll keep doing the graphics work afterwards.
Rick
"Hey Rick, Just checked out your site again. It looks great! I like the section meet the staff". Has Steve ever thought about making trophies out of carved antler or horn?? It could be for an outdoor winter meet and it could be called the "winter wonderlift". To make it more interesting we could have deer licks all around to attract more trophy racks just in case we ran out of finished antler trophies the day of the meet. Hunting and lifting in the same day, the Cissells would love it!!"
Take Care,
Tim Piper
Tim: Your right, the Cissells would like something like that. They're nutty about hunting! And if there's someone out there who could make an award out of antlers, it would be Steve Cissell!
