If you ever want something done right you have to do it yourself. That's the approach 29 year old Steve Cissell takes when it comes to awards for thier powerlifting meets. In 1996 Steve began cutting prototypes out pf huge blocks of wood with a chainsaw, much like a artist would work on a sculpture. The results were fantastic and have been nothing but that ever since. His awards include custom made plaques, created with multiple types of wood pieced togethor. For the most part though, the highlite is his creativity when it comes to the best lifter awards. In 1996 for the National Masters, Steve came up with a displays that had huge Gateway Arch replicas that stood almost two feet tall! Not one to miss detail, the arch's were all made out of small blocks of wood pieced togethor; and as is the case with the 630 ft. monument, Steve's replicas were exact cantinary curves. For the 1997 Teenage & Jr. Nationals Steve created foot long replicas of a bar with weights, mounted on a unique display, complete with tiny collars used to hold the weights on the bar. For this year's Bencpress Nationals, he outdid himslef once again. |
